There's no visual indicator after hitting ctrl-p to submit AI prompt. I see a cursor blinking for several seconds and I am thinking if it accepted my user action. Maybe a progress indicator would help.

Doesn't the Submit button change to Cancel, or are you thinking of something else?

Yes it does. I didn't notice it.
