Possible Chinese UI text support for LINQPad9?

edited June 27 in General

Hi,

I'm a long-time user of LINQPad and really appreciate how powerful and convenient it is for .NET development and data exploration. Recently, I've noticed that more and more developers in China are adopting LINQPad for their daily work. However, the lack of Chinese UI text support can be a barrier for some users who are not very comfortable with English.

I would like to ask:

  • Are there any plans to add Chinese (Simplified) UI text support in LINQPad9?
  • If not, is there any way for the community to contribute translations or localization files?
  • Are there any unofficial plugins or resources that can help with Chinese localization at the moment?

I believe that adding Chinese UI support would greatly benefit the growing user base in China and help LINQPad reach even more developers worldwide. If localization is not currently on the roadmap, I’d be happy to help coordinate or contribute to a community-driven translation effort.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

regards

  • Thanks for your offer of support!

LINQPad has indeed gained popularity in China. We have a reseller who handles local payment methods, and a Chinese version of the website.

In terms of the application itself, the constraint is not so much localization as globalization: every UI string would have to be factored out and fed from a resource file. This is a big expensive refactoring project and is uneconomical right now. Although there is a reasonable userbase in China, there is little actual revenue (for reasons you can probably guess).
