re-order/rearrange connections?
it appears the app doesn't directly support this but I imagine there's a file somewhere we can manually massage, right?

There is a file, but doesn't influence the ordering of connections. The order is always first by connection type, then alphabetically. By renaming a connection (right-click, rename) you will influence the alphabetical ordering. Note that the reordering won't become apparent until you restart LINQPad.
