Multiple Versions Installed
Am I understanding correctly that if I want to do both .NET 6 and .NET 4.8 stuff I'll need to maintain two separate version installations of LINQPad? Or is LINQPad 7 backward compatible into .NET Framework?

You'll still need LINQPad 5 for .NET Framework 4.8 compatibility. LINQPad 7 supports only the .NET Core family of frameworks (.NET 3.1 -> .NET 6).
